Hi!
I’m Lettie Dressé, short form of Leitia.
Older than I look (sold my birthright to my younger brother at 13!), working on being a little more awesome than I was yesterday, and finding joy in “lettuce-wrapped living,” because life is too short to miss out on burger’s and crop tops at the same time!
So…this morning I had the brilliant idea of writing about the trials and errors of a slightly erratic female’s hap-hazardous journey to consistency, a healthy-ish lifestyle, complete with fitness, recipes and chatter about all the most tempting foods and why it’s so dang-hard to just stick with the so familiar “everything in moderation” model!
From homemade deliciousness to foodie daydreams. Ideal Protein to Dr. Bernstein. Intermittent Fasting to the Low-carb buzz craze…it’s all tossed inside!
As you may have already surmised, I have battled with my weight from my childhood…and up until a few year’s ago, I was fast approaching 300-lbs, although with surprisingly good health. No diabetes, no high cholesterol, no high blood and still had the ability to run my heart out on a soccer field plus manage to bike a 25-km round trip on a vintage stingray (only one gear!) without too much trouble.
Scoring in the top 6 out of an office of 75 while undergoing a biometrics testing challenge, while easily being the heaviest of the staff gave me pause.
I may be Overweight, but my insides were telling me I had genes on my side that had the ability to be as healthy on the outside as I was on the inside.
Every doctor I went to proved this.
No hypothyroid.
There wasn’t anything that was keeping me at this weight, except for me.
Let me say, this was quite the eye-opener!
So what was I going to do about it?
Let me take you back…but before I do that, let me pass on my dedication in honour of a thing I love and cherish, and have since learned to love with a little less.
DEDICATION: I dedicate this site to my last real burger. You know, the one with the fluffy-sink-your-teeth-in-two-hands-on-an-all-white bun with the creamy, saucy, drippy, crispy, fried and delicious fixings…?!
Yep.
That one.
So to all the salad (and burger!) enthusiasts out there, enjoy an irreverent take on why dieting sucks, losing weight rocks, and fitness is…well rare, but also kind of great in small, inconsistent doses.
Oh, and…Did I mention the loveable leafy green lettuce?
